Woods Cross
City Council

Julie Checketts
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who voted for me!  I'm so excited and humbled to be your voice on the City Council.  I know that as we work together our city will only continue to be a great place to live and raise our families.  I was officially sworn in on January 2, 2018 and since that day I've been working hard getting to know my new role.  I've been meeting with employees and getting to know them and finding out what they do at the city.  I've also asked them to tell me 3 things they would like to see improved or need to make their job easier.  I've had wonderful feedback and am currently on my third notebook and only half way done meeting the employees.  I'm really enjoying my new postition and am excited to help make changes needed to keep our employees happy!

While I'm on the City Council...

While I'm serving on the City Council, I have some items I'd like to focus on and see improvements made.  My Facebook Group will be part of providing better communtication with the residents.  So be sure to check in often!

*Planned, Controlled Development-including Commercial and Residential
*Improved Public Safety
*Air Quality and Environment Improvement
*Better Communication and Accountability between the City and Residents
*Better Support of our Law Enforcement Officers and City Employees

Community Involvement

I headed up a group of residents who were against a high density residential development
proposed in main area of the city.  This development was a poor use of land and would have caused more issues with traffic in an already bogged down intersection.  We were able to get the development denied.  Woods Cross is one of the last small towns left and we need to be mindful of the type of growth we allow and make sure we have the necessary infrastructure in place to support the growth.
I currently serve as the chairman of the WX City Air Quality Board and we meet with area
industries to discuss ways to improve our air quality, environment, and provide education to our residents.
I’m a member of the United Women’s Forum that has started a campaign—Safe Internet for Utah Kids.  We are working on holding companies accountable for providing filters to protect our kids from damaging images on the internet.
